HISTORY OF SCHOOL

VIVEKANANDA KENDRA ZILLA PARISHAD VIDYALAYA- BASANTIPUR NORTH AND MIDDLE ANDAMAN

Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya Basantipur was established in the year 2003. The mission of the school was to provide students in the Vidyalaya with quality, independent education that focused on engaging and active learning, a commitment to the environment and dedication to the school and local communities located in Nimbudera, North and Middle Andaman.
Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya Basantipur opened its doors with 4 teachers, 1 ayah and 24 students in kindergarten. Since its opening, the school’s dynamic educational environment has continued to evolve. With additional land to grow into, the school was initially housed with a simple “L” shaped building and later on developed to new double storied building during the up gradation of secondary classes. By fall 2014, the school was affiliated by CBSE. In that same year school administration and staff began the rigorous authorization process that would permit the school to offer the highly respected mission.

In 2016, first batch of class X appeared for CBSE. We also defined our fivefold development which includes Physical Development, Mental Development, Emotional Development, Spiritual Development and Intellectual Development. Moving forward the pillars helped and ensured that students at every grade had opportunities to flourish and grow. We were the also the recipient of BEST SECONDARY SCHOOL AWARD in 2021, in recognition of performance in AISSE in Rural area.
At present, the strength of our Vidyalaya is 320. These students are boosted by 15 well trained faculties & 4 non teaching staffs. Our school also has a huge playground located in the midst of the school making the view more enhancing, along with a wide area garden of flowers, medicinal plants and few vegetables. These are frequently looked after by all the teaching, non teaching staffs and students too. We engage our students in various co-curricular activities in Bal Sabha. This sabha includes singing, moral storytelling, Gita Chanting, bhajans, various competitions like spell bee, drawing, speech etc.
Not only the students, but teachers are also given some trainings at certain intervals like TOC (Teachers’ Orientation Camp), APS (Acharya Prashikshan Shibir), Swadhyaya at school level to boost up their skills and knowledge about their service in this instituition.

Throughout our history, the school community has remained committed in creating an environment in which students are known, supported, challenged and encouraged to grow.
